Changes in import conditions in China
- Other
The new China draft law of December 2019 plans to modify the conditions for importing cosmetic products. A certificate attesting to the products’ good manufacturing practices will then have to be provided. Either by the authorities of the country of origin, or by an external organization.
A new Chinese bill, in force since December 2019, imposes stricter requirements on the import of cosmetic products. In concrete terms, products destined for the Chinese market must now be accompanied by a certificate. Proving their compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This certificate is issued either by the health authorities of the country of origin, or by an authorized external body.
In France, this is the Agence Nationale de Sécurité du Médicament et des Produits de Santé (ANSM). It will issue this certificate, guaranteeing that the cosmetics comply with the quality and safety standards required by China. This new requirement, for the moment specific to the Chinese market, could inspire other countries in the years to come. Encouraging cosmetics companies to strengthen their GMP compliance.
